Two of Toronto’s hip hop staples will take to the road in April/May 2010 to flex their talents across Western and Central Canada, marking the debut for both DJ Mensa and Rich Kidd in many of these Canadian markets. Mensa has established himself as one of the most diverse DJ’s in Toronto’s hip hop scene, throwing down at indie hip hop shows with emerging acts like Blu and Tanya Morgan, to placing top shelf as Toronto Champion 2-years running at Red Bull Thre3Style. Meanwhile Rich Kidd has made a steady push to become one of Canada’s top producer/emcees, sharing this status with the likes of Saukrates and Classified, with production credits over the past two years including Drake, Busta Rhymes & MOP, Saukrates, Sizzla, Tona, Kardinal, Cutty Ranks, Frank N Dank, Rochester and most recently the k-os celebrated single “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman”.

DJ Mensa -
After his landmark victory at the Toronto’s inaugural RedBull 3Style DJ Mixoff in 2009, and repeat win in 2010, Mensa’s stock has been on a meteoric rise. From the smallest of lounges to thousands in attendance, Mensa has brought parties to life across Canada, the US, and his native Philippines. The roll call of acts he has opened for reads as a who’s who of hip-hop. His residencies across the city have rabid followings, and a slew of side projects and shows have him occupied indefinitely. From the warm-up to cooldown, and everything in between, Mensa is always fully in the know.

Rich Kidd -
True to his namesake, Rich Kidd is naturally gifted producer/rapper and blessed at anything he set his musical mind to. Rich Kidd’s notoriously hypnotic, head-nodding, harmonic and dramatic soundscapes began in Mississauga and his swift, sharp and street-wise rhyme style is a force to be reckoned with. Artists as diverse and esteemed as Drake, Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates, Bishop Brigante, Ill Bill, Raekwon, Cutty Ranks and Sizzla have been seeking out Rich Kidd for his timeless production as well as rapping features.Rich Kidd has an undeniable loyalty and respect from the endless amount of fans he has. His release party in August 2009 for his mixtape “We On Some Rich Kidd Ish” was so overwhelming that the second release party in Dec 2009 was even bigger after word got out how incredible his performances are.

His most recent success story is when Canadian artist K-Os jumped on a Saukrates song featuring Nelly Furtado, now called “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman”. The song outsold K-Os’s new album ‘Yes!’ on iTunes, 2-units-to-1, and continues to garner attention and respect for everyone involved, especially the mastermind of the malicious melody: Rich Kidd.
