2005, and recently 2007, JUNO Award nominee DL Incognito has released his 3rd album, entitled “Organic Music for a Digital World”, on June 20th, 2006 in Canada on Urbnet/Fontana North, with a release date of September 20th, 2006 in the United States.
On the heels of a tough year, following the release of his Juno nominated sophomore album, “Life’s a Collection of Experiences”, DL Incognito returned with a new album “Organic Music for a Digital World”. Life’s… saw DL taking his listeners on a very emotional ride within. It was conceived at a time when DL was reconciling various aspects of his life, mainly the pressures of the music industry, various personal issues as well as the untimely loss of his mother, Evelyne Nestor, following a long battle with cancer.
On this, his third LP, DL Incognito reemerges with a new found hunger and a fresh outlook. DL declares: “The title Organic Music for a Digital World is a reference to the current state of the world; I make honest music for a cold and artificial world”. This Album finds DL at peace with himself and ready to face the world. To his longtime fans, his name has always been synonymous with lyricism and this album doesn’t disappoint. He easily shifts gears from light (“Horoscope”), to scathing (“Commerce”) to genuinely earnest moments [("Two Chicks"), (“Farewell")] without ever losing the intensity and swagger he is known for.
“Organic Music for a Digital World” was recorded over a four month period in the beginning of 2006. With no guests to speak of, this is all DL unfiltered: “This record represents real life music; the songs represent things that most people will go through at one point or another in their lives.” The bulk of the music has been provided by DL’s longtime collaborator and DJ, Techtwelve with T-Wrecks, The BeatSmiths and DL himself once again making noteworthy contributions.
“Organic Music for a Digital World” is DL Incognito’s first official release on American soil, through Fontana distribution. This is the first time DL Incognito’s record will be available domestically in the US, after releasing A Sample and A Drum Machine and Life’s A Collection of Experiences in Canada.
