Calgary is one of 11 cities in North America to host Rock the Bells. Few events can claim to both capture and define a movement, yet this is precisely what Rock The Bells has done since its inception in 2003. Rock The Bells is more than a music festival. It has become a genuine rite of passage for thousands of core, social, conscious, and independent Hip Hop enthusiasts, backpackers, and heads. Following in the colorful tradition and history of past Hip Hop music festivals such as Smoking Grooves and Cypress Hill’s Smoke Out, Rock The Bells is the ultimate Hip Hop platform and premiere music experience in North America. Rock The Bells has established a forum of unparalleled diversity and excellence by uniting the biggest names involved with urban culture.

Rock The Bells will feature a massive outdoor festival area complete with traditional vendor booths, multimedia experiences, and historic surprise performances. The evolution of urban street culture has forged its own unique movement in this world. Finally, there’s an event that identifies and gives voice to the people and ideas that are continuing to shape it. If anyone is looking for a window into the future of this culture, Rock The Bells is as good as it gets.

Event: The “Slow Claps” Tour – Edmonton

July 8, 2009 by Brad Crowfoot

slow claps tour edmonton

The PPF House present: the Slow Claps Tour featuring LEO37 + Sunclef, MAGNOLIUS and Tanika Charles.

This will be the House’s Edmonton DEBUT and they’re beyond excited for this opportunity to rock in one of Canada’s livest and fastest growing scenes.

Having just finished up tours in Asia, Brazil, Europe, South Africa and the United States, this will be this quintet’s first time back on the Canadian road in a little over 2 years. Promoting their brand new releases: Applause (LEO37 + Sunclef), Mary Musth (MAGNOLIUS), and Tanika Charles’ debut album WHAT WHAT WHAT, Slow Claps spans 16 dates nationwide landing in Edmonton on July 17th.

In case you don’t know who they are, the PPF House are generally classified within the Hip-Hop and Soul genres, however, this young group of DIY artists are a melting pot of eclectic influences studied and brewed into something altogether new. Declared by EXCLAIM! Magazine as “… one of the most original sounds in Canada” as well as boasting 2008’s NOW Magazine R&B Artist of the Year in Tanika Charles, the members of the PPF House combine hip-hop, soul, jazz, electronica and pop fragrances to create a show that is both high energy yet self-conscious. Garnering rave reviews internationally for their unconventional antics and oddball banter, this tour promises all in attendance to an evening full of sweat and smiles.

Accompanied by Edmonton’s own Locution Revolution and A.O.K., this show will cause you so much pain in your calves and so much happiness in your soul.
